“Sava Lakh Se Ek Ladaun Tabheh Gobind Singh Naam Kahaun”
“Call me Gobind Singh, only, when each of my Sikh will be fighting with more than one and a quarter lakh of the enemy.” – Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji
This saying came true in the battle of Shri Chamkaur Sahib. In this battle, 42 Sikh followers and two elder sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji fought with bravery. As a result each individual Sikh kills lakhs of the enemy.
ਉਪਰੋਕਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਬਚਨ, ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਜੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹੀ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੋਏ। ਇਸ ਜੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਜਾਦੇ ਅਤੇ 42 ਸਿੱਖ ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਲੜੇ। ਹਰ ਇਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
Geographical Location
Shri Chamkaur Sahib is also known as Chamkaur Sahib and Garhi Chamkaur. Shri Chamkaur Sahib is a town in Punjab located near Chandigarh City. It is also a Sub-Divisional Town in district Ropar (Roopnagar).
ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਤੇ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਕਸਬਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਨੇੜੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਰੋਪੜ ਜਿਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਸਬ-ਡਿਵਿਜਨਲ ਕਸਬਾ ਹੈ।
Shri Chamkaur Sahib is situating near the Sirhind Canal. It is connected to major cities by Road and Train. Both ways are equally important to reach this place. It’s distance from Morinda is 15 KM, 16 Km from Ropar, 48 KM from Chandigarh, and 60 KM from Ludhiana.
It is a religious place famous for the Battle between Khalsa led by 10th Guru of Sikhs and Mughals. In this battle, 42 Sikh Followers and Two Elder Sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji martyr.
ਇਹ ਇਕ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਸਥਾਨ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਸਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਗਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੰਗ ਹੋਈ। ਇਸ ਜੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦੇ ਅਤੇ 42 ਸਿੱਖ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ।

Many Gurudwaras built here represent the visit and stay of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji with his 40 Sikhs, 5 Pyare and two elder sons. Consequently 6 Historical Gurudwaras are as follow:
ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਆਪਣੇ 40 ਸਿੱਖਾ, 5 ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਜਾਦਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਰਹੇ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਥੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੁਰੂਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ:

- Gurudwara Shahid Burj (Shahidi Asthan Baba Jeevan Singh Ji) (ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਬੁਰਜ਼, ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਬਾਬਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ)

Way to reach Shri Chamkaur Sahib
You can reach Shri Chamkaur Sahib by Bus, train and Airway. Shri Chamkaur Sahib has its own Bus Station but only connecting to few big cities like Morinda, Ludhiana and Ropar. You can come via train to these cities and then can reach Shri Chamkaur Sahib. As it doesn’t have it’s own railway station.
Air-Way
International Airport at Chandigarh is the nearest Airport. Not only Chandigarh but In the same way Shri Chamkaur Sahib is connecting to Indra Gandhi International Airport, Delhi and Shri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport Amritsar.
History
Shri Chamkaur Sahib is a religious place. Million of Sikh visit this place in a year. Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited this place twice in his life. As a result many beautiful places are there to visit.
1. Gurudwara Shri Ranjeetgarh Sahib:
Firstly, In 1702 when Guruji was returning from Kurukshetra battle rested under a tree which is present till now. The Mughal Army attacked them. Guruji Win that and now have Gurudwara sahib at that place. Gurudwara sahib knew as Ranjeetgarh Sahib.
2. Gurudwara Shri Damdama Sahib:
Secondly, when Guru Gobind Singh Ji left his fort in the year 1705. River Sarsa was suffering from heavy flood as a result Guruji got separated from the family. Guruji and his two elder sons came to Shri Chamkaur Sahib along with other 40 Sikhs and 5 Pyare. They stayed in the Garden where is Gurudwara Damdama Sahib now.
3. Gurudwara Shri Garhi Sahib:
In addition to this when the Mughal Army was behind them. Guruji choose highest place in the city which was a mansion of 2 brothers. The site of this mansion now houses Gurudwara Garhi Sahib.
4. Gurudwara Shahid Burj:
It is the place where Baba Jeevan Singh Ji martyred. Mata Sharan Kaur Ji cremated Baba Jiwan Singh Ji here as per instructions from Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This place is known as Gurudwara Shaheed Burj in fact many people known it as Shahidi Asthan of baba jeevan Singh ji. It is located near the Gurudwara Garhi Sahib.
5. Gurudwara Tarri Sahib:
Gurudwara Tarri Sahib is on the semi highest place. In the battle, when remaining Sikhs ordered Guruji to leave the mansion then in the night-time Guruji clap three times to inform the Mughal Army and say that here Guru of Sikhs is going if you have power then catch me.
6. Gurudwara Katalgarh Sahib:
Last but Not least is Gurudwara Shri Katalgarh sahib which is the main shrine. In this place, two elder sons and 42 Sikhs were cremating.
